An author specializing in Amish fiction who’s ranked on The New York Times Best Sellers list will visit Seymour on April 9 to talk about her new book and sign copies for fans.

Beverly Lewis of Colorado has penned more than 100 books for children, youth and adults, most of which tell the stories of Amish families.

She will visit the area to promote her latest novel, “The Road Home,” making stops at Central Christian Church, 1434 W. Second St., in Seymour at 10 a.m. and the Ark Book and Gift Store, 2624 Eastbrook Plaza Shopping Center, in Columbus at 2 p.m.

Originally, she was to speak at the Jackson County Public Library in Seymour, but because of the high number of early registrations and waiting list, the event was moved to accommodate more people.

Lewis’ appearance is sponsored by The Friends of the Jackson County Public Library.

She will speak for 25-30 minutes, answer questions from the audience and then sign books. Copies of “The Road Home,” will be available for purchase at the event for $15, cash or check only, with proceeds going to The Friends of the Library to support library programs and purchases.

A limited number of “The Beverly Lewis Amish Cookbook” also will be available for $15. In addition, fans may bring one of their own Lewis books for her to autograph.

Lewis’ most well known works, including The Heritage of Lancaster County series, revolve around the Amish culture, because she herself grew up in the heart of Amish country – Lancaster, Pennsylvania.

She is the top-selling author of Amish fiction in the country and her books have won many awards over the years.

Her latest novel, “The Road Home,” tells the story of a young Amish woman grieving her parents and facing a new life in Lancaster County. Although she wants to return to her home in Michigan, she begins to find that Lancaster may not be so easy to leave when the time comes.

A touching story of family, love and community, “The Road Home” appeals to both longtime fans and readers new to the Amish genre because of its depiction of different Amish communities.

It was her mother’s Amish heritage that inspired Lewis to write about the subject, beginning with her book “The Shunning,” which has sold more than 1 million copies and been made into an original movie for The Hallmark Channel.
