Sertoma plans Miracle

Applications for this year’s Sertoma Christmas Miracle will be available starting Monday.

Jackson County Sertoma Club will collect donations to help deliver Christmas toys to needy children throughout the county.

All donations are used in Jackson County for Jackson County residents.

“We had a record number of families apply for toys last year, and we anticipate even more requests this Christmas,” Sertoma Christmas Miracle Chairman Scott Davis said.

“We are always grateful for the generous help from the people of Jackson County who support this program each year,” he added. “None of this would be possible without your support.”

You must live in Jackson County to apply. Applications are for children age 12 or younger. No effort will be made to solicit toys more than $35.

Sertoma is participating in Charity Tracker to avoid any duplication of services with other agencies this holiday season, Davis said.

All applications for Christmas Miracle must be signed by the parent or legal guardian to receive toys.

Applications will be available at the following locations during regular business hours:

Seymour: WIC office, Jackson County Department of Child Services, Jackson County Health Department, Jackson County Division of Family Resources, Jackson County Chapter of the American Red Cross and Seymour Housing Authority.

Brownstown: Jackson County Sheriff’s Department.

Medora: Bundy Brothers.

Applications are accepted until Christmas Eve, but Sertoma encourages those wanting toys to apply as early as possible.

Toys will be delivered throughout the day on Christmas Eve, and families must be home for delivery.

Sertoma’s Christmas Miracle Headquarters will be open starting Dec. 5 at the Village Center on East Tipton Street in Seymour. The headquarters’ hours of operation and contact number will be released soon.

An angel tree will be at the Wal-Mart Supercenter in Seymour after Sertoma receives and processes applications.

Applications and monetary donations for Christmas Miracle may be sent to P.O. Box 841 Seymour, IN 47274.
