VERNON — Two area men were arrested Tuesday after they were found barricaded inside a vacant residence at Country Squire Lakes, police say.

According to a report from Jennings County Sheriff’s Department, the incident that led to the arrests of Marlon J. Cowan, 33, of North Vernon and Derek B. Woodson, 31, of Columbus began when police received a report of a domestic disturbance on Honey Locust Place at 11:01 a.m. Tuesday.

While investigating the disturbance, police reported they found an open door at the residence. Officers said they entered the house and found Cowan and Woodson barricaded in a room. Officers then entered the room and arrested the two men.

Both Cowan and Woodson face potential charges of residential entry, a Class D felony, and criminal trespassing, a Class A misdemeanor. Cowan also was wanted on a Bartholomew Superior Court I warrant for failure to appear.

Woodson’s arrest occurred just three days after he was released on parole from the Indiana Department of Correction, the sheriff’s department reported.
