Learn to weave basket at library

July 2, 2009 - 8:43 PM

Bev Rust will teach how to weave a large picnic supply basket from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. July 13 in the Seymour Library Meeting Room.

Adults and teens are invited to register and pay $25 for supplies by July 6. There is a limit of five to nine students.

Participants will learn to weave a 17-by-10-inch basket with a swing handle that lays down on the rim of the basket, similar to the one that is on display in the Seymour Library Information Services Office.

Participants must bring scissors, a flathead screwdriver, clip clothespins, an old towel, a pencil, a tape measure or ruler, a spray bottle and a dishpan.

Rust is an elementary school teacher in Columbus and has taught basket-weaving for many years. She has created more than 3,000 baskets.
