BROWNSTOWN - A motorcycle driver sustained a severe head injury after hitting a deer in the Brownstown area.
Thomas Chasteen, 51, of Brownstown was driving near Base Road and County Road 400 East in Brownstown around 4:30 p.m. Sunday when he hit a deer, according to the Jackson County Sheriff's Department. He wasn't wearing a helmet and had "open head trauma," the sheriff's department said.
Jackson County Sheriff dispatch said Chasteen was taken by ambulance to Schneck Medical Center in Seymour.
Greg Murphy of the Jackson County Sheriff's Department was the responding officer at the scene.
