A Vallonia man injured when his car ran  beneath a semitrailer carrying logs Wednesday morning in the Dudleytown area was listed in fair condition Thursday.

According to a report from Jackson County Sheriff's Department Officer Tom Barker, Gregory Croquart, 32, was pinned in his vehicle after it went under the trailer on County Road 750E, south of Dudleytown.

Crothersville volunteer firefighters had to use the jaws of life to free Croquart from his vehicle.

Barker said the wreck, reported at 6:53 a.m., occurred after Croquart failed to see Kermit Cornett Jr. backing the trailer into a driveway.

Cornett, a Medora resident, was not injured.

After Croquart was freed, he was treated by personnel with Jackson County Emergency Medical Services and taken to Schneck Medical Center in Seymour. Croquart was later transferred to Methodist Hospital, where he was listed in fair condition Thursday afternoon, according to hospital spokesman Gene Ford.

County officers Dustin Steward and Bobby Cummings as well as Indiana State Trooper Steven Wheeles assisted Barker.
