U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs anticipates the opening of a permanent clinic in Scottsburg by spring 2009.

A temporary clinic will open there next week.

"This is a critical service that will be brought to southern Indiana veterans," Indiana 9th District Rep. Baron Hill said Friday in announcing the clinic. "Veterans will have easier access to primary care and mental health services."

The temporary clinic will be at 279 N. Gardner St. and will begin serving veterans Sept. 30.

Primary care and mental health services will be provided at the temporary clinic, Hill said in a news release.

Care will expand when the new facility is completed and will include primary, mental health, preventive and ancillary health care services. 

"I look forward to the opening of the full-service, state-of-the-art facility next year," Hill said.
