Mexican consul visiting Seymour
The Mexican Mobile Consulate will visit a Community Services Fair from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday at Jackson County Education Center, 1000 S. Poplar St., Seymour.
Consul Fernando Ceja and staff from the Indianapolis Mexican Consulate will visit Seymour allowing Mexican citizens to apply for or renew their Mexican passports and/or consulate identification cards.
A press conference with Ceja will be held at 11 a.m.
The consulate in Indianapolis serves Mexican citizens living in Indiana, Kentucky and Ohio.
La Paz de Cristo Social Ministry of Seymour is serving as host of the fair and the mobile consulate.
Several times a year, the mobile consulate sets up in different cities to allow those not able to travel to Indianapolis to process their applications closer to home.
The consulate will provide 400 documents Saturday; reservations for all documents have already been made, and no additional documents will be available.
In conjunction with the Mobile Consulate, a Community Services Fair will provide information in both English and Spanish regarding various agencies from within the Seymour and Jackson County communities.
Among the agencies participating are La Paz de Cristo Social Ministry, the Family Life Center, Healthy Families, the READ Literacy Program, the Community Health Center, Child Care Network, the Jackson County Public Library and others.

Jim H. you know what is REALLY a slap in the face to american citizens? That someone as dumb as you is allowed to live. Try learning to read before you get too old. It looks like Seymour IS a sactuary - for ret?rds. Even if every Mexican in Indiana left - legal and illegal - you would just find something new to b?tch and cry about. Why? Because that's what lazy, inbred rednecks do best.

The comments on here are ridiculous. First of all it says they are coming to renew passports not help with taxes. Second of all the only Mexicans here with passports are here legally so I highly doubt you will be seeing a line of illegal residents outside the door. People who do not understand or cannot interpret correctly what they read need to not comment. We American Citzens have MANY places we can go to obtain/renew our passports but the Mexicans have to go to Indy or Chicago for theirs. I think this is a great service the Consulate is providing. And I agree with Bear, all illegals should be deported immediately.

I don't think some posters read the article very well. It said they are helping to "apply for" or "renew" passports, so it is NOT just legal immigrants from what I read. Someone else said Americans have to go to Columbus to file taxes and get the rebate, and this story says nothing about taxes or rebates. However, as far as I'm concerned, maybe the Mexican Consulate should have several mobile units that park along the border and take care of this as they come in.

This is not right. We legal citizens do not get any kind of help like these illegals are getting? Are the taxpsyers paying for this? If I need help with my taxes I have to go take care of it myself. Another example of how the illegals seem to get more benefits that us LEGAL AMRICAN CITISENS.

Check out the Mexican consulates role in aiding illegals . Last week a member of the Mexican Consulate was filmed in California claiming that San Diego once belonged to Mexico and will again soon . The Mexican consulate was handing out maps last year to illegal border crossers .

But, your right my friend the people posting below did not read or understand what the article is about, they help already legal Mexicans with the proper documentation to re-file so they can stay in our great country and work to live the good life! Now before you go calling me names and flying off the handle I am completely against any person being in our country illegally and they should be deported as soon as possible!

But aren't they dealing with people seeking to renew passports and visas? Doesn't that mean they're following the law?

Now does anyone doubt Seymour is a Sanctuary City . This is a slap in the face to the legal citizens , when our elected not only cater to , but assist a foreign Government in violating our Federal Laws .
