VALLONIA - Two Jackson County men face burglary and theft charges after an incident reported Tuesday at a residence in the 4800 block of South County Road 250W in the Vallonia area.

According to Jackson County Officer Adam Nicholson's report, Justin D. Hickman, 22, of Vallonia and Gary T. Caudill, 24, of Brownstown were arrested after an investigation he conducted with the assistance of county detectives Bob Lucas and Rick Blaker Jr.

That investigation began when Nicholson responded to a report of a burglary at the residence. Nicholson said police were able to determine that a "large" amount of jewelry and coins had been taken along with two safes.

Police interviewed Hickman and Caudill late Tuesday and the two men cooperated with police leading to the recovery of many of the items that had been taken, Nicholson said.

Both Hickman and Caudill face Class D felony charges of theft. Hickman also faces a Class B felony charge of burglary and Caudill faces a Class B felony charge of conspiracy to commit burglary. Both men remain in jail on $50,005 bonds.

Nicholson said additional charges may be requested.

As part of the investigation, police obtained a search warrant from Jackson Superior Judge Bruce Markel III for a location in Brownstown. Officers involved in serving that warrant were county Lt. Andy Wayman, county officers Jeff Walters and Rick Meyer, county Reserve Officer J.D. Woods.

Officers with Brownstown Police Department also assisted with the search warrant.
