Federal funding will aid Jackson County's efforts to repair a bridge over the East Fork of the White River at Rockford.

Indiana Department of Transportation recently awarded $4.5 million in Federal Highway Administration Local Public Agency county bridge funds to Bartholomew, Brown, Franklin, Jackson, Jefferson, Jennings, Monroe and Morgan counties.

Jackson County was awarded an additional $385,623 for Bridge 228 on County Road 725 North in Redding Township over the East Fork of the White River.

These federal funds, administered by INDOT, may be used as reimbursement for up to 80 percent of the projects' eligible costs.

Other approved projects in area counties include:

Jennings County was awarded an additional $427,400 for construction of a new bridge over Sand Creek just north of the Scipio Covered Bridge.

Bartholomew County was awarded an additional $700,000 for the replacement of Bridge 26.

Brown County was awarded an additional $696,800 for Bridge 33.

County officials presented information on their projects to an awards panel at the INDOT Seymour District offices March 19.

The panel made its recommendations to a selection committee in Indianapolis. The committee recently confirmed the awards.
