Burglaries net 2 arrests

Discovery June 1 of stolen items at a home on North Pine Street in Seymour has led to arrests Thursday of suspects in three Jackson County burglaries and a fourth in Brown County.

According to a press release from Jackson County Sheriff Marc Lahrman, the investigation that led to the arrests of Albert Hill, 38, of Medora and Justin Morgan, 27, of Seymour began four months ago.

Hill and Morgan were arrested Thursday after county Detective Rob Henley served them with Jackson Circuit Court warrants.

Lahrman said the three Jackson County burglaries occurred in the Medora area. One of those burglaries was initially investigated by Indiana State Trooper Brian Earles.

"The majority were daytime burglaries that took place through the week while people are at work or away from their homes," Lahrman said.

On June 1, Seymour officers Billy Smith and Bernard "Chip" Petro along with Cpl. Jason Wynn discovered stolen items in a North Pine Street residence after serving a warrant. Detectives with the sheriff's department along with others from the Indiana State Police were called to the residence to collect the stolen property.

Henley and state Detective Roger Drew interviewed several persons of interest in the case and recovered more stolen property as well as developed suspects, Lahrman reported.

Hill and Morgan both face multiple counts of burglary, a Class B felony, and theft, a Class D felony.

Henley didn't have to go far to find Hill, because he was already in jail after his arrest on June 1 on a Jackson Circuit Court warrant for burglary, theft and receiving stolen property.
