Woman arrested in teen's overdose
Comments 0 | Recommend 0BUTLERVILLE - A 19-year-old Butlerville woman faces a Class B felony charge of dealing in a schedule II controlled substance after she sold methadone tablets to a 17-year-old girl who later overdosed, police say.
According to a report from Jennings County Sheriff Steve Hoppock, the investigation that led to the arrest of Jessica N. Johnson on Saturday began after county Detective Jim Blevins and county Officer Karen McCoy were called to the emergency room at St. Vincent-Jennings Hospital in North Vernon.
Blevins and McCoy arrived to find the 17-year-old girl being treated for a drug overdose, Hoppock said. The girl, who was unresponsive and on life support, was later transferred to an Indianapolis hospital. Her condition was not available this morning, Hoppock said.
Officers later tracked the source of the medication to Butlerville and arrested Johnson after interviewing several individuals, Hoppock said.
Johnson was booked into the Jennings County Jail in Vernon at 7:58 p.m., according to police records.
Officers also plan to ask the Jennings County prosecutor to file charges against a second individual interviewed during the investigation.
That person faces charges of false informing, obstruction of justice, assisting a criminal and contributing to the delinquency of a minor, police said.
Lt. Brian Talkington assisted with the investigation.
