BOBTOWN — A 17-year-old Bartholomew County boy was killed in a one-car crash early Monday morning in northern Jackson County.

Officer Adam Nicholson of Jackson County Sheriff’s Department said Frank Burbrink of the Jonesville area apparently lost control of his 1996 Chevy Corsica at a 90-degree turn at county roads 425E and 1050N.

Burbrink, a student at Columbus East High School, missed the corner, causing his car to become inverted in a water-filled ditch, Nicholson reported.

The person who called 911 at 12:38 a.m. pulled Burbrink from his car and gave CPR, but Jackson County Deputy Coroner Roger Wheeler pronounced Burbrink dead at the scene.

An autopsy was scheduled to determine the cause of Burbrink’s death.
