Wrecks injure 4
Comments 0 | Recommend 0At least four local residents were injured in two separate wrecks reported over the weekend.
The most recent was reported at about 3 a.m. Sunday and involved a 2002 Chevrolet Avalanche driven by a 20-year-old Medora man, James D. Kidd, in the 8900 block of West County Road 275S.
Two of three passengers in Kidds’ vehicle sustained serious injuries in the wreck, which occurred in the Medora Knobs area, Jackson County Officer Adam Nicholson said.
Leah D. Winget, 18, of Medora sustained head injuries and was taken to Methodist Hospital in Indianapolis. Winget also sustained a broken right ankle and facial fractures. A second passenger, Daniel McCory, 25, of Freetown sustained head injuries, Nicholson said, and was taken to Schneck Medical Center in Seymour by Jackson County Emergency Medical Services personnel. McCory was later released. A third passenger, Jesse Yeadon, 28, also of Medora, was not injured.
Kidd, who was not injured, was arrested for operating while intoxicated resulting in injury, blood alcohol content 0.08 or greater and minor in consumption. He was booked into the Jackson County Jail in Brownstown at 4:29 a.m. Sunday and posted a $750 bond at 12:57 p.m.
Nicholson also investigated a wreck that left two people injured at Indiana 39 and County Road 400S at 12:54 a.m. Saturday.
That wreck involved a 1999 Jeep Wrangler driven by Jeffrey S. Johnson, 37, of Brownstown.
Nicholson said Johnson was driving north on Indiana 39 when he missed a corner at County Road 400S. The vehicle left the road and rolled twice in a field, ejecting Johnson and a passenger, Melissa K. Jordan, 24, of Clarksville.
Both Johnson and Jordan were treated by Jackson County EMS personnel and taken to Schneck Medical Center in Seymour for treatment. Officer Jeremy Sons and Crothersville-Vernon Township firefighters assisted.
Seymour police also investigated a wreck involving a sport utility vehicle that was under a semitrailer in the 1600 block of East Tipton Street. Roger Wheeler with Jackson County EMS said the 17-year-old driver of the SUV was not transported to the hospital. No other details were available at press time.
