Storm cuts power

Comments 0 | Recommend 0

A series of thunderstorms overnight left more than 3,100 Duke Energy customers in Jackson County without power for at least a brief period late Monday night and early this morning.

As of 8 a.m. today, however, Duke was reporting that power had been restored to all but 39 customers in Jackson County. There were 1,611 customers without power in Bartholomew County as well as nine in Jennings County at 8 a.m. today.

The storms, however, created little other damage in the county with the exception of some downed trees.

Seymour police received a report of a motorist parked over power lines in a driveway. The individual reporting that incident at 1:50 a.m. today said the man wouldn't get out of his vehicle and needed help. Police later determined that it was a downed cable line.

Jackson County police re-ceived a report of a "large" tree down in the 2600 block West Indiana 258 in the Seymour area at 10:39 p.m. Monday.
