Traveling to Bartholomew County over the holiday weekend?
Pick a designated driver if your plans include alcoholic beverages.
Indiana State Police will conduct a sobriety checkpoint sometime over the July 4th weekend in Bartholomew County during the late evening and into the early morning hours of the following day.
Troopers will also be observing for other alcoholic beverage violations and take appropriate enforcement action, Sgt. Donald Gregory of the Seymour Post said.
Motorists are encouraged to have their driver's license and vehicle registration ready when entering the checkpoint to help reduce their one- to two-minute delay.
Gregory said motorists are urged to plan ahead and designate a sober driver before consuming alcohol or arrange for a taxi. People having parties are reminded to offer non-alcoholic beverages and to make sure their guests leave with a sober driver.
