The Seymour boys soccer team scored two goals within the final four minutes of Saturday’s game at Heritage Hills for the only scoring of the game, while the girls soccer team scored 15 goals at Whiteland.

LINCOLN CITY — It was 0-0 until Seymour’s Nathan Pyle assisted Aaron Brown at 3:39 for the first goal, and with 1 minute remaining in the game, Brown assisted Daniel Koester for the Owls to move to 3-1.

“Heritage Hills came at us the whole game,” Owls coach Wil Smith said. “They just played aggressive, and that’s how they stayed in it. We met their intensity. Our shots didn’t fall the first half, and I just knew in my mind that once they finally cracked the net, we would start scoring some goals.”

The Owls outshot the Patriots 18-5.

“I thought we outplayed them as far as movement of the ball,” Smith said. “We struggled a little bit playing well together recently, and this game was good in that we had to fight hard the whole 80 minutes to pull this thing off.”

He hopes that momentum remains as the Owls try to pick up their first Hoosier Hills Conference win at home Tuesday against Jeffersonville. Seymour is 0-1 in the HHC after last week’s home loss to Columbus East.

NEW WHITELAND — Ten Lady Owls scored in Seymour’s 15-1 win against Whiteland.

Allison Reed scored three goals, while Heather Jones, Maile Grout and Leah Elsner all had two goals.

Seymour put in eight goals to Whiteland’s one in the first half. Five of those goals were off of assists, two were solo shots and the other one came off of Jones crashing the goal after Brooke Werskey’s penalty kick near midfield. Jones’ move caused the goalie to lose take of the ball.

The second-half goals were scored off of three assists, two solos, a corner kick and a throw-in.

The Lady Owls (4-1) will play their first HHC game Tuesday at Jeffersonville.
