NORTH VERNON - The death of a North Vernon man is under investigation after officers found him at his home Wednesday morning.

Officers of the North Vernon Police Department were dispatched to 411 S. Woodlawn Drive, where they found Erick K. Kopitzke, 68, on his back porch with a gun shot wound to his upper torso.

A press release from NVPD said Kopitizke was first discovered by a family member. Officers said at this time there does not appear to be any foul play involved.

An autopsy is scheduled for Thursday morning at Schneck Medical Center in Seymour.

Detective Gary Driver and Crime Scene Investigator Detective Ivory Sandefur are investigating the incident in conjunction with the Jennings County coroner's office.
