FREETOWN - A Freetown man was arrested after leading police on a short chase early Friday.

Around midnight Thursday, Officer Rick Meyer with Jackson County Sheriff's Department attempted to stop an SUV driven by Timothy MeJean in the 4000 block of North Indiana 135, police said in a news release Tuesday.

The vehicle went west on County Road 425 North and then north on County Road 460 West before the driver stopped and left the SUV, police said.

Meyer said Tuesday that after a few hours spent searching the area, police found MeJean walking near a residence and he was charged with resisting law enforcement and reckless driving. He was booked in the county jail at Brownstown at 8:12 a.m. Friday.

The case remains under investigation.

Assisting with the arrest were Officer Adam Nicholson of the sheriff's department, Officer John Long with Brownstown Police Department, Indiana State Police Trooper Stephen Wheeles and his canine, Kane, and Officer Ian McPherson and his canine, Koa, of Seymour Police Department.
