INDOT plans 2 U.S. 31 hearings
Indiana Department of Transportation will offer two public hearings to receive input about the proposed reconstruction of U.S. 31 from Seymour to just south of Columbus.
According to a press release from INDOT, a public hearing will be held at 6 p.m. Nov. 18 at the Seymour district offices, 185 Agrico Lane.
The other public hearing is set for 6 p.m. Nov. 16 at Clifty Creek Elementary School at 4625 E. 50N, Columbus.
The proposed project is designed to improve 17.9 miles of U.S. 31 from about 1,300 feet south of the intersection with U.S. 50 at Seymour to south of Bartholomew County Road 50N.
The proposal to improve the roadway includes the adding of left and right turn lanes, widening shoulders, modifying spot areas of the vertical alignment and improving intersections.
Of six bridges included in the project, four will be replaced, officials said.
The public hearings will include a formal presentation, a public comment session and an informal open house session where project officials will be available to address questions, comments and concerns with assistance from project maps and displays.
