Youth projects garner awards
Comments 0 | Recommend 0Jackson County Public Library sponsored a Read Beyond Reality writing contest in honor of Teen Read Week Oct. 11 through Oct. 17.
Teens in grades five through 12 were encouraged to submit an essay, short story, poem or video recording of what Read Beyond Reality means to them.
Winners for best written work are Savannah Smith for her essay entitled “Read Beyond Reality” and Brooke Zike for her short story entitled “The Getaway.” Joshua Bederaux-Cayne, Derek Couch, Faith Mysak and Jesse Mysak won for their movie entitled “Friend or Foe?”
Winners received a library book bag filled with candy, bookmarks, a library lanyard, a water bottle and a 2009 Teen Read Week Writing Contest certificate.
