Jennings residents face drug charges

Five North Vernon residents face charges of manufacturing methamphetamine after an investigation that began Nov. 24 in that Jennings County city.

According to a press release from the North Vernon Police Department, the investigation that led to the arrests of Amy Collins, 34, Jeffery Morris, 52, Clifford McCrory, 45, Todd Curran, 34, and Lindsey Gilley, 27, began when officers served a search warrant at about 7 a.m. Tuesday at a home at 316 Summit St.

That warrant was obtained after an investigation that began with several calls and complaints from people in the area to a department Tip Line about possible drug traffic from the Summit Street residence. Police stopped a vehicle leaving the residence before the warrant was served and reported they found items associated with manufacturing methamphetamine in that vehicle.

That discovery led to police obtaining a second search warrant for the residence, and police said they recovered items associated with the manufacturing of meth in a garage at the residence. They also reported they fond narcotics and paraphernalia inside the residence and a second meth lab inside an abandoned home across the street.

All five suspects were arrested and booked into the Jennings County Jail in Vernon. They were ordered held on $7,555 bonds.

This investigation was conducted by officers Robert Skelton, Craig Kipper and Todd Beam with the assistance of Officer Brian Taylor and his dog, Blade, and officers Randall Marshall, Matt Staples, Ivory Sandefur, Gary Driver, Jeff Day, Brandy Blevins and Mike Piirto. Jennings County Sheriff’s Department Sergeant Jeff Jones and the Indiana State Police also assisted.

The residence was just across the road from St. Mary’s School, which makes the crime enhanced because of the possibility of child endangerment.
