Comments 0

SALEM — Detectives from the Indiana State Police Post at Sellersburg arrested Skyler L. Naugle, 26, from Salem early Saturday in connection with a home invasion Tuesday.

Detectives located Naugle late Friday evening and were able to gather enough information that led them to believe he is the second person who was being sought in the home invasion/robbery case detectives are investigating.

That incident occurred on Old State Road 56 in Washington County on Tuesday and resulted in the death of Ronald L. Chastain, 36, Salem. Chastain was fatally shot by the homeowner as he and Naugle attempted to rob the homeowner, Sgt. Jerry Goodin of the ISP said.

The homeowner was not charged in the incident.

Police said Chastain knocked on the door of a home around 9:10 p.m. and asked to use the phone. When the homeowner agreed to help, Chastain and a second, masked man forced their way into the home.

Naugle was incarcerated in the Washington County Jail at Salem on the charges of robbery, a Class A felony, and attempted robbery, a Class A felony.
