Post cards will capture Seymour
As part of the Retail Development Strategic Plan being done in Seymour, one already defined gap is being filled by a new project.
Seymour Main Street, The Tribune and the Greater Seymour Chamber of Commerce will partner to create a contest that will lead to the creation of eight post cards showing Seymour in its four seasons.
“Our Retail Strategic Plan consultant was amazed that she could not find post cards showing Seymour in any of the stores,” chamber President Bill Bailey said. “There were one or two in town showing historical buildings, but none that are current.”
The contest will ask residents in each of the four seasons to send photographs of a scene, a building or an event that is representative of Seymour to The Tribune. The newspaper’s editorial staff will choose up to six of the offered seasonal photos and representatives of Main Street and the chamber will select two of the photos to be made into post cards.
The photographers of the two seasonal photos selected will receive a $50 certificate for use at any chamber or Main Street business. As the post cards are available at the end of each season, they will then be made available to local merchants, businesses and organizations for sale.
The Retail Strategic Development Plan is a project of the Greater Seymour Chamber of Commerce, Seymour Main Street, Jackson County Board of Realtors and Jackson County Industrial Development Corp.
