A 23-year-old Seymour man faces burglary and theft charges after an incident reported in the Seymour area Monday afternoon.

According to a report from Jackson County Officer Adam Nicholson, the arrest of Daniel D. Lacey of the 100 block of Cherry Circle, Seymour, occurred during an investigation into the theft of a 55-gallon drum of copper wire, a .45-caliber handgun and other items from a residence in the 1000 block of North U.S. 31.

The owner of the property also reported that tools, compact discs, fishing poles and a tackle box where missing from his residence or a nearby garage as well as a GPS navigation system from a vehicle, Nicholson reported.

Nicholson said police later arrested Lacey at his home in Seymour and found many of the missing items.

Lacey faces charges of three counts of theft, burglary, criminal mischief and possession of a handgun without a permit. He was booked into the Jackson County Jail at 9:24 p.m. Monday and was being held on a $10,000 bond.

Nicholson was assisted  by Seymour Officer Jack Hauer, county Officer Ben Rudolph, Detective Rob Henley and Reserve Officer Charlie Murphy.

Nicholson said police continue to look for the fishing poles, the tackle box and a case of compact discs taken during the theft.
