Police arrest soldier from area after shooting
Comments 0 | Recommend 0CLARKSVILLE, Tenn. (AP) — An Indiana National Guard soldier from Jennings County has been arrested and charged with trying to kill another man by shooting him in the head.
The Clarksville Leaf-Chronicle reports that police arrested 27-year-old Caleb Andrew Pearl of Butlerville, Ind., Sunday morning. Pearl was being held in the Montgomery County Jail.
Clarksville Police Officer Jim Knoll says police went to a house around 3:20 a.m. CDT and found 24-year-old Michael Ellis outside his home with a gunshot wound to the head after an argument with Pearl.
Police say Pearl told police he shot Ellis because he thought Ellis had pulled a gun.
Ellis was taken to Vanderbilt University Medical Center, where he was listed in critical condition Sunday afternoon.
