Tax statements are returned
Comments 0 | Recommend 0There are Jackson County taxpayers who have still not received their tax payments because they have been returned to the treasurer’s office by the post office marked as undeliverable or unable to forward.
It is the responsibility of the taxpayer to pay property taxes even if they do not receive their bill, Treasurer Kathy Hohenstreiter said.
“If you did not receive a statement, please call our office at 358-6125,” she said.
Jackson County residents face a deadline for paying 2008 pay 2009 property taxes of Dec. 31.
Payment for taxes can be made at the treasurer’s office between the hours of 8 a.m. and 4:30 p.m. Monday through Friday. Taxes may also be paid at The Peoples Bank with branches in Seymour, Crothersville and Brownstown, at the State Bank of Medora or online at www.Jackson-tax.net (800) 809-5849.
There is a drop box at the back entrance of the courthouse on Sugar Street where payments may be placed as well.
If paying by mail, it must be postmarked by Dec. 31 to avoid a late penalty. If you would like a receipt, you’re asked to include a self-addressed, stamped envelope.
