NORTH VERNON - A Jefferson County teenager was seriously injured after being ejected and pinned under a vehicle he was riding in Tuesday.

Meagin K. McFall, 21, of Madison was driving a 2000 Ford car southbound on Indiana 7 near County Road 300 South when she ran off the roadway and lost control of her vehicle.

Police said her vehicle left the roadway, striking a post and rolling over, coming to rest back on its wheels.

A passenger in the vehicle, Del'shon C. Bell 19, also of Madison, was not wearing a seat belt and was ejected from the vehicle as it flipped. Bell landed on the ground and the vehicle landed on top of him, pinning him beneath the vehicle.

McFall was wearing a seat belt and was not ejected and received only minor injuries.

Rescue workers extricated Bell from under the vehicle. He was taken to a waiting helicopter that had landed at the scene and was flown to University of Louisville for treatment of his injuries.

Bell's condition was not known at press time.

A press release from the Jennings County Sheriff's Department stated the vehicle was a total loss.

Deputy Karen McCoy is the investigating officer of the wreck. Assisting at the scene were Sheriff Steve Hoppock, Major Jerry Shepherd, Lt. Brian Talkington, Steve Reinholt of the Department of Natural Resources, Rescue 20, North Vernon and Vernon fire responders and a PHI helicopter and crew.
