Beating suspect sought
Comments 0 | Recommend 0Police continue to look for a man who reportedly battered a 60-year-old Seymour man near his home late Sunday night.
The man told police he was approached by a man in a white shirt around 11:30 p.m. at Fourth Street and Indianapolis Avenue.
Detective Capt. Carl Lamb said the victim said the suspect, who appeared to have been intoxicated, just started talking to the victim and then started beating him with his fists.
“He fled the scene before officers arrived,” Lamb said of the suspect.
Lamb said robbery did not appear to be a motive because the victim reported nothing had been taken. He was treated by personnel with Jackson County Emergency Medical Services and taken to Schneck Medical Center for treatment.
The only other description the victim could offer about his assailant was that he was about 5-foot-8 inches tall and had blonde hair.
The incident was reported after someone found the victim lying in the road, Lamb said.
Anyone with information about the incident may call police at 522-1234.
