ATV wreck injures 2
A 33-year-old Crothersville man was taken to a Louisville hospital in critical condition New Year’s Day after the four-wheeler he was driving was involved in a crash west of that southeastern Jackson County town, police report.
The wreck that left Charles W. Kinworthy hospitalized with internal injuries at University of Louisville Hospital also led to a passenger on the four-wheeler, Robin L. Freeman, 26, of Crothersville with internal injuries. Both Kinworthy and Freeman were treated by personnel with Jackson County Emergency Medical Services at the scene. Kinworthy was then flown to Louisville, while Freeman was taken to Scott Memorial Hospital.
Indiana State Police Sgt. Don Gregory, post public information officer, said Friday night that Kinworthy was in stable, but still serious, condition.
According to a report from Indiana State Trooper Jared Black, Kinworthy and Freeman were found pinned beneath the four-wheeler in a ditch off County Road 950 East, south of County Road 600 South, by a newspaper delivery person at about 4:30 a.m. Friday.
Black said it is not known why Kinworthy lost control of the four-wheeler, but he added alcohol was a factor in the wreck.
He said it also is believed the two may have been pinned underneath the four-wheeler for several hours before being discovered by the newspaper carrier.
Firefighters with Crothersville Fire Department assisted.
