Clinton, Obama both claim progress toward nomination
Comments 0 | Recommend 0New York Sen. Hillary Rodham Clinton narrowly won Indiana and Illinois Sen. Barack Obama won North Carolina in Tuesday's primary elections.
Did the balloting resolve the Democratic Party's choice for its presidential nominee? Pundits and supporters have quickly joined a battle that has some saying Obama can't sew up the nomination so Clinton must continue to fight on to the Democratic National Convention in Denver. Others say that Clinton can't beat Obama in terms of the popular vote and delegate count and that therefore she should quit. And the candidates themselves both said the results pushed them closer to the nomination.
Like everyone else, including those doing all the talking for the candidates, we don't know the answer either. We remain curious to see whether this Democratic dilemma will be resolved in Denver, whether it will be resolved behind closed doors or whether one candidate or the other will pull out of the race. We hope the second option - closed-door shenanigans - doesn't happen and we doubt the third option is really an option for Clinton or Obama.
We'll stay tuned.
