Affected home owners should pay for levee
Comments 0 | Recommend 0To the Editor:
I was somewhat amused by the column submitted by Joseph M. Robertson of Seymour (Page 4A, June 26) concerning building a levee to protect the homes on the west side of Seymour.
Why should the taxpayers be soaked because they bought a home in the flood plain? In the column it spoke of a levee that a corporation built by the landowners "who paid for it out of their pocket." If the people of Coventry, Bell Ford and the Crossing want to protect their homes, then they should pay for it instead of the taxpayers. After all, it's your home.
