Readers takes issue with state budget plan

Comments 0 | Recommend 0

To the Editor:

In Friday's newspaper, state Rep. Terry Goodin, D-Austin, said Gov. Mitch Daniels' budget plan was a sham.

The only sham is the taxes property owners in Vernon Township are paying to keep Crothersville Community School open. How many graduated this year? Fewer than 40?

Perhaps Rep. Goodin and his disciples should revisit the definition of "necessity," which would include furnishing school books and supplies.

If President Barack Obama's plan of overhauling the banking rules eliminates the property taxes being included in the loan payment, your problems may get larger when reality sets in on the property owner.

No. Federal stimulus money is taxpayers' money and shouldn't be spent on a dilapidated bridge that's outlived its usefulness.
Yes. If the money isn't used for this, the funds will just go to a project outside the county.
