Grant shows value of plan for the community
Comments 0 | Recommend 0To the Editor:
The officers and Board of Directors of Seymour Industrial Corp. would like to publicly congratulate the mayor, clerk-treasurer, city council and staff for the significant efforts that led to the recent announcement of Seymour being awarded a $547,000 grant from the city of Lawrenceburg sharing its riverboat gaming revenues through its regional economic development fund.
With the cooperative efforts of the city, Seymour Industrial Corp., Jackson County Industrial Development Corp., the Greater Seymour Chamber of Commerce and others, Seymour's Eastside Industrial Park will be able to provide much needed infrastructure improvements that will lead to new industries locating there or the expansion of present employers.
Seymour Industrial Corp.'s recently created Vision 2025 outlined the need for investment in the infrastructure at both the Eastside Industrial Park and Freeman Field as a first step toward future economic growth. Having "shovel ready" sites for industrial prospects to consider is essential for our community to compete for new industry and the jobs and tax base that go with successful recruitment. The Lawrenceburg grant will be a tremendous boost toward that goal.
We loudly applaud the city leaders for this success and encourage them to continue to support the other goals that the Vision 2025 outlined as a collaborative plan to benefit both the Eastside Industrial Park and Freeman Field. We believe that this grant demonstrates the value in having an achievable plan to succeed in our economic growth.

Mark Dennis, treasurer
