Seymour must stand up to fight thieves, burglars

To the Editor:

What's happening to the town of Seymour?

The other night my truck was broken into. They stole all my stereo stuff totaling about $2,500 in damages and theft.

I get up every morning and go to work to buy everything that I got. Why can't everybody else do the same?

I moved out here from Arizona because my in-laws told us it's peaceful and you don't have to worry about much. For the past five years, it's been good, no problems, until I woke up Wednesday morning to go to work and found my window busted out and my goods gone.

We need to stand up, Seymour, and fight back against these people who steal the stuff we all work so hard to get. These people are ruining our town and our lives.

The police department told me it's a big problem right now in our town. So what I'm asking is to stand up and do something. If you see someone looking into people's vehicles or at their homes, call someone, the police, anything. If we as a community don't stand up and take charge, we will lose this town to these punks.

The police department said they're doing everything they can but it's not enough. These people are stealing stuff like crazy.
If you don't mind paying for your goods over and over again, then sit back and let them. I'm not rich and can't afford to waste my money, so I'll be the first to stand up and say "no more."

You thieves might have got me once, but you will get caught, maybe not tonight, maybe not next week, but believe me, you will get caught. A cheater and a thief never prosper.

Joseph Hampton
Seymour, Ind.
