Online reader seeks more letters to editor

To the Editor:

Being a former long-time resident of Seymour, I am somewhat disappointed at the lack of letters to the editor at The Tribune compared to those that I read in the Bedford Times-Mail daily.

Evidently, there are more Lawrence County residents willing to speak their opinion, be it pro or con, than there are in Jackson County.

I will continue to read both The Tribune and the Times-Mail daily. I would just like to see more people in Jackson County speak their mind on issues that they care about.

Keep up the good work at The Tribune.

Jeff Huffman
Holiday, Fla.

Tami, you should say only 2 or 3 that "are" actually on topic. You only use "is" when the subject is singular. Just trying to prevent future shame.

I believe this is sad, all the posts and there are only 2 or 3 that is actually on the subject of the letter. Maybe this is why you don't see more letters to the editor. People are so petty in their posts, they need to grow up.

After reading all of the nonsense on this post and the fact that censorship is allowed, is it any wonder that people aren’t interested in this?

Pain, I think when you said presumptuous, you meant to say preposterous. That would have been a better fit. Just trying to enlighten.

HOW kind of you to point that out. Not a question. HOW presumptuous of me to contradict the grammar police. Again, not a question. Go figure.

Actually, csm is correct. If you're going to start a sentence with "How" then it's a question and should have a question mark.

Csm, there is no question mark when it's a statement. You really should get over yourself.

I acknowledge that I will be called numerous things, but how about eliminating the remove comment button so posts can't be censored. As much as people say my, and other peoples posts are irrelevant, a lot sure get removed that contain some good info.

I think if you're going to say "How dare I." you should end it with a question mark. Just trying to illuminate.

Yes, I know, csm, sentence fragments! How dare I.

Csm, you're the same kid in school that knew all the answers or thought they knew all the answers, weren't you? And probably frantically waved your hand everytime the teacher asked a question so you could expound on your great knowledge for all to hear. Or you could be a disgruntled, retired English teacher still trying to get the little kids to pay attention. Whichever it may be, you're a royal pain in the backside. Also, very annoying.

Thank you, Fan, it's great to have admirers. But please, let's spell it grammar, ok? Just trying to facilitate.

Tribtown does have some sort of problem with posts. I just posted a comment and it showed up for about 10 minutes and then was gone. What's the deal?

To be an insider please, Special Olympics is a wonderful program for amazing people. You should be ashamed of yourself for referring to it in that manner. Your comment was rude and unnecessary. The individuals who participate did not deserve this type of remark. Maybe you should volunteer to work with Special Olympics so you can see what wonderful people they truly are.

CSM, you should have placed a comma after "Actually". Just trying to educate.

To the Tribune. I have repeatedly typed a comment which meets your guidelines listed below. When I attempt to submit I am given the following response "Some in our community have misused the comments feature. To combat that, we've created an inappropriate word list as well as restricting the use of some punctuation marks. Please review your comment." I have reviewed my comment and there is no reason it should not submit. What is wrong with your posting system? It's frustrating to spend the time writing a response only to have the submission denied.

CSM, BACK OFF ON YOUR EDUCATION. I'll capitalize WHERE I want, WHEN I want. You're missing the whole point of these conversations when you just pick through them for the grammar and spelling. You're getting annoying!

Actually you shouldn't capitalize "It" in the first sentence, since it simply follows a comma. Just trying to educate.

Tard, It was not over my head. I just didn't see the humor in it regardless of the reason he used "Jeff" instead of "If". Being grown up isn't so bad, you might try it sometime!
