Thumbs up to Cindie Tormoehlen for organizing a recent fundraiser at the Jay C Food Store in Seymour to benefit the Jackson County  Hearing Aid Fund. A tip of the hat should also go to the folks who bought meals through the fundraiser. The Hearing Aid Fund helps families buy hearing aids for their children.

Thumbs up to Ben Henry and Blake Peters, who were named co-firefighters of the year by Brownstown Exchange Club. Henry and Peters are volunteers with the Brownstown Volunteer Fire Department.

Thumbs up to JVC Hendricks Box Co. Inc. The firm plans to invest $550,824 in its Seymour operations. It will help retain existing jobs and add two more positions. Work on installing the equipment should be complete by February. It’s good to see investment in local business operations.

Thumbs up to Seymour High School Renaissance Owls of the Month for September: Sarah Kleber, music; Mike Stidam, physical education; Allison Carpenter, science; Ethan Crenshaw, social studies; Kyle McCauley, technology; Kesley Worth, world language; Will Borcherding, agricultural; Cory Pardieck, art; Sarah White, driver’s education; Ellen Archer, English; Chastina Waskom, family and consumer science; Kate Gessling, health; Gary McNeal, mathematics; and Mathew Lockard, business.

Thumbs up to the Seymour High School Marching Owls for taking their  beat to the streets, or ar least area schools. Members of the band performed for elementary and middle school students on a recent tour.
