Comments 0Thumbs up to the many volunteers and business owners and managers who helped support this year’s revamped Medora Christmas parade and festival. Pleasant weather was a welcomed participant in the festival, which was moved two weeks earlier than normal in an attempt to revitalize the festival and renew interest in the community event.

Thumbs up to the many volunteers who helped finance, prepare and serve community Thanksgiving dinners at Medora Christian Church last Sunday and at Cornerstone Community Church in Seymour on Thanksgiving Day. Such community meals help bring many people together, including those among us who may have no other place to call home on the holidays.

Thumbs up to Seymour High School senior Chase Emerson. He recently went 3-0 at the Indiana High School Tennis Coaches Association Senior Boys All-Star Matches at DePauw University in Greencastle. Emerson was one of nine tennis players from southeast Indiana to play in the matches.
————
Thumbs up to Michael Searcy and Lisa Machino, who were recently sworn in as court appointed special advocates. They will serve as volunteer advocates for Jackson County youth who find themselves involved in the county’s judicial system. For information on how you can become involved, call Advocates for Children at (812) 372-2808 or (877) 604-9402.

Thumbs up to employees of the Seymour Department of Public Works and Seymour Parks and Recreation Department for their efforts to decorate the city’s downtown in preparation of the Christmas season.
