A motorist who police said disregarded a stop sign just north of Brownstown and four passengers have been arrested on drug-related charges.

Lyndsie Millman, 22, of Brownstown was driving a 2007 Chevrolet minivan in the 700 block of North Base Road when she failed to stop at an intersection about 6:45 p.m. Monday, Jackson County Officer Adam Nicholson said. That led to the traffic stop and a search of the van.

Millman and her passengers — Dustin Staggs, 21, Ryan Self, 26, and Shawna Smith, 25, all of Seymour, and Jordan Fee, 26, of Brownstown — were arrested on charges of possession of heroin after the drug was found in the minivan and on Millman and Smith during searches at the jail.

Each also faces a charge of possession of paraphernalia after officers found drug-related items, including a soda can cut at the bottom, which could be used to draw heroin, inside the van, Nicholson said.

Fee faces an additional charge of maintaining a common nuisance, while the other four face a charge of visiting a common nuisance. Both Smith and Self also face a charge of illegal possession of a syringe.

Nicholson said that during the investigation he learned Self had an active arrest warrant from Jennings Circuit Court for two counts of burglary, a Level 4 felony, and two counts of theft.

All five were taken to the county jail in Brownstown, where they being held without bond until their initial court appearances.

Assisting with the investigation were county Detective Ben Rudolph, county officers Dustin Steward and Brad Barker, Brownstown Officer Joe Kelly, and county Reserve Officer Charlie Murphy.
