BROWNSTOWN - It is the halfway point in the season for the Indiana Late Model Series.
This Saturday night at Brownstown Speedway, the series will be in action topless. The drivers will remove the roof plate and have open roll cages. Drivers will have a good view for the fireworks on tap for the evening as well. The Crates will be joined by the Super Late Models, Bombers, UMP Pure Stocks and the Hornets.
For the season recap, Steven Godsey won the opener at Thunder Valley Raceway in Salem. Jeremy Hines has won two events, one at Brownstown and the other at Bloomington Speedway. Shannon Reed and Zak Blackwood have both won one each at Brownstown and Steve Barnett won the most recent event at the Terre Haute Action Track.
As far as the points, Steven Godsey is still the leader with 1,597, followed by Shannon Reed with 1,540, Edgar Godsey with 1,473, Tim Rivers with 1,405 and Jon Gilstrap with 1,386.
July will be a busy month for the Indiana Late Model Series as five events are on tap: Brownstown on July 4, July 18 and July 30 (with the latter one being Thursday Night Thunder at the Jackson County Fair), The Scott County Fair July 12 and Bill Nelson Memorial at Vermillion County Speedway in Danville, Ill., on July 25.
