Brownstown Central and Crothersville won their opening volleyball matches of the season, while Medora lost at Springs Valley Tuesday night.

Brownstown defeated Eastern  25-9, 25-13, 25-14 in a Mid Southern match; Crothersville beat Borden in five games in a Southern Athletic Conference match, and Medora lost 25-18, 25-8, 25-8 at Valley.

Braves win opener
Brownstown took control early in all three games to get its season started on the right foot.
"It was a good season opener," coach Jennifer Shade said. "It was a good match to get into the flow. We've got a tough match coming up Thursday."

Sammie Bane and Whitney Tormoehlen both had five ace serves, while Jordyn Pendleton led in attack kills with eight.

The Braves will be home to Bloomington North Thursday with the freshmen and JV matches set to start at 5:30 p.m.
Tigers top Braves
Coach Zabrina Nicholson said her team won the first and third games, and was leading the fourth game when setter Koleigh King became injured, and the Braves rallied to win to force a fifth game.

"There were times when we played great, and times we played not so great," Nicholson said.
The Tigers will travel to Henryville Thursday for another SAC match.

Hornets beaten
The Hornets played the Blackhawks on nearly even terms in the first two games, but couldn't get enough offense in the second and third games.

Medora will be home to West Washington Thursday.

Medora Covered Bridge
Are you supportive of plans to rehabilitate the Medora Covered Bridge?
Yes. It's a unique historic structure that should be preserved.
No. Federal stimulus money is taxpayers' money and shouldn't be spent on a dilapidated bridge that's outlived its usefulness.
Yes. If the money isn't used for this, the funds will just go to a project outside the county.
