Brownstown has raised $60,000 for turf for football field

Reed May, head football coach at Brownstown Central, reports that approximately $60,000 has been raised to put turf on the football field at Blevins Stadium.

"Our committee wanted to give an update on our turf project and thank everyone who has donated to the project," May said. "Our mission is to raise private funds. We will not use any school corporation funds to improve Blevins Memorial Stadium for the benefit of our children and our community.

"We have collected approximately 1/10th of the necessary funds, which does not include any in-kind donations that we will receive. We feel that the project is going well but our committee is too small to contact all the possible donors."

May said he encourages anyone who is interested in this project to not only donate to the project but also join the committee. All donations are tax deductible and are placed in the Community Foundation of Jackson County. The donations can only be used for the turf project, so the question is not will they get the turf, but when will they get the turf.

"We would like to thank all the donors listed (on page 3) for their support in this project. All donors will be recognized in a prominent place at Blevins Memorial Stadium," May said.

"If you would like more information on our turf project, on other schools in Indiana who have a synthetic turf or the Brownstown Central football program you can go to our website at www.bchsfootball.com"
