Hoosier Hawks win opener at USSSA World Series

COLUMBUS - The Hoosier Hawks girls U16 softball team defeated the Ohio Wave 4-3 Tuesday in the opening round of pool play of the USSSA U16 World Series at Clifty Park.
Members of the team include Sydney Schneider of Seymour, and Alli Nolan, Whitley Hall and Hannah Bays from Brownstown.
Nolan had two hits and two RBIs to lead the Hawks Tuesday. Shelby Stahl had one hit and two RBIs, and Hall, Jessica Gregg and Chelsea Smith had one hit each. Stahl and Smith are from Columbus North and Gregg is from Danville.
Schneider and Gregg pitched for the Hawks. Schneider struck out two and walked two, and Gregg had one strike out and no walks.
The Hawks received a forfeit win this morning, and will play Lake County, Ill. at Clifty Park at 4:45 p.m. today.
