Owls post 13th win

Seymour scored four runs in the fourth inning and three in the sixth to whip the Warriors.

Cameron Phelps hit a solo home run in the fourth inning when the Owls took a 4-0 lead.

Noah Wahl hit his team-leading fourth home run, a 3-run blast, in the sixth.

Wahl also had a double, while Trevor Thompson had three hits, and Skylar Prange had two hits and two RBIs. Matt Lorenzo and

Chad Moore also had two hits each.

The Owls pounded out 12 hits, and coach Bob Bowman said he was glad to see the Seymour bats come to life after his team was shut out Monday night.

He said, "Twelve hits in six innings is pretty good. We played good defense again. We made one error. We made some good plays in the infield."

Reagan Eakins picked up the win as he allowed four hits, struck out five and walked one. "(Eakins) kept them off stride the whole game. They got a couple of hits in the (fifth) inning when they scored, but other than that he kind of held them at bay."

The Owls are 13-7 and will play host to New Albany at 6 p.m. today in the loser's bracket of the Hoosier Hills tournament. The Owls and Bulldogs split a double header earlier.

Braves fall

BROWNSTOWN - Mitchell broke open a close game with four runs in the fourth, three in the fifth and five in the sixth.

Brownstown scored single runs in the fourth and fifth innings.

The Braves had seven hits with matt McCory and Chase Beedie getting two apiece.

Beedie and Ryan Shoemaker had doubles, while Beedie and Andrew Allman had RBIs.

The Braves will play host to Charlestown Thursday for a Mid Southern Conference game.

Braves win

SELLERSBURG- Brownstown scored three runs in the fifth inning to even their Mid Southern record at 4-4 and bring their season mark to 9-8.

Brittnay Wehmiller had the big hit for the Braves, a two-run single.

Wehmiller, Whitney Tormoehlen and Paige Hinderlider had two hits each.

Coach Monte Ault said he was pleased with the defense as it did not commit any errors. He said Catherine Allen had seven assists at third base and Cheyenne Riley had five assists at shortstop.

"I'm pleased with our defense. We played a lot better than we did against Salem (7 errors) Saturday.

"The top of the order hit the ball. Our one through four hitters had six hits.

BC will play host to North Harrison Saturday for their final MSC game.

Cougars beaten

HOPE -Hauser broke a 1-1 tie with three runs in the third, then added seven runs in its next two at bats to roll past Trinity.

"The girls played another very good game," coach Bob Hiser said. "Our pitcher, Erica (Price) had a good night pitching. She had five strikeouts and only walked three. Our fielding was also very good. The girls were making good plays and good decisions out there tonight.

"Our batting was the problem. We left nine runners on base. I told the girls to keep working hard in practice and in the games, and things will come together for us."

The Cougars did not have a hit as they fell  to 0-15 and will be home Thursday to West Washington.
