20th Firecracker 200 set at Salem Speedway

SALEM - The 20th annual Firecracker 200, presented by Paoli Pizzaria, will take off Sunday at Salem Speedway.

The 200-lap Street Stock Classic, paying $5,000 to win, and the 50-lap Lucas Oil Super Stock race will be featured.

Spectator gates open at noon, and practice will begin at 12:30 p.m. Qualifications will be at 3 p.m., followed by the first race at 4 p.m.

Advance general admission tickets are $14 for adults and teens, $3 for children ages 7-12 and free for age 6 and under with adult. Advance reserved seat tickets are $19 each. All prices are $2 more the day of the race.

Five former winners are among those who have entered the race. They are Chuck Barnes Sr. (2008-2005) of Louisville, David Bayens (2006) of Memphis, Beau Mitchell (2004) of Owensboro, John Collins (2003) of Sellersburg and Todd Kempf (2001) of Huntingburg.

Frank Kimmel II leads the Lucas Oil Super Stocks division with 477 points, while Skeeter Crum is right behind with 476, followed by Chris French at 472, Tony Conway 471 and Mike Sharp 469.

In the Dave & Deb's Winner's Circle Street Stocks, Brian Bayer leads with 386 points, followed by Winston Wood's 385 and Chris Bayens 382. Brent Gardiner and David Bayens round out the top five with 377 and 372 respectively.
