Cougars take seventh, Hornets sixth

For the second straight year, the Crothersville girls basketball team has begun the season 4-0 after winning the Henryville Tip-Off Tournament.

The Lady Tigers defeated Henryville 45-35 in Saturday's championship game.

Three Crothersville players finished in double figures, with Kylie Hensley leading the way with 16.

Earlier that day, Trinity Lutheran easily ran by Rock Creek Academy 50-28 for seventh place in the tournament, and following that game, Medora let their first- and second-quarter leads slip away in the second half in a 57-46 loss to Shawe Memorial.

Medora freshman Hannah Elkins made six 3-pointers for the second straight game, tying a school record set by her sister, Hayley Elkins. She led the Hornets with 22 points.

For the Cougars, Jenna Chaisson, Kendall Lambring and Emma Franke each scored 13.

Check out Monday's print edition of the paper and online at tribtown.com for full coverage of all three games, including stories, photos and box score information.
