Seymour, C’ville golfers lose meets
Comments 0 | Recommend 0BC tennis team gains victory
Floyd Central shot 154, Jennings County 158 and Seymour 166 in a three-way meet at Shadowood Golf Course.
Matt Wade and Matt Posey were low for Seymour with 41.
"That was a little high for our home course," coach Brian Rodman said. "This is the first home match we haven't been in. The other two teams are good teams, but that was a little higher than where we should be at this point in the season."
Tigers struggle
BORDEN - Borden shot 190 and Crothersville 246 at Hidden Creek.
Josh Couch was low for the Tigers with 56.
"We're still having trouble on the course, and until I get five boys that are dedicated to golf we're going to struggle," coach Danny Lee said
Several of the players also run track or play baseball, and Lee said it is awful hard to have a golf match one day, and a track meet or baseball game the next day.
Tennis
The Brownstown Central tennis team closed out its home schedule Tuesday with a 3-2 win over Eastern in a Mid Southern Conference match.
Seymour lost 4-1 at Columbus East in the opening round of the Hoosier Hills Conference Tournament, and Trinity Lutheran lost 4-1 at Waldron
Braves win
BROWNSTOWN - The Braves won two of the three 3-setters to finish 4-5 in the MSC.
"This was a really good match tonight," coach Erik Stangland said. "Until this week Eastern had been in the top three in the conference."
The Braves are 5-9 overall.
Lady Owls lose
COLUMBUS - Seymour's point came form Rachel Haskett and Kelsey Black at no. 1 doubles with a 7-5, 6-2 win.
"Kelsey and Rachel played a good match and remained unbeaten in the Hoosier Hills Conference.
"We didn't play that bad. We just got beat by a better team. We weren't as sharp as the first time we played them when we lost 3-2."
The Owls are 6-7 and will play Madison Thursday in the loser's bracket of the tournament.
Cougars lose
WALDRON - Kelly Thiessen picked up Trinity's point at No. 1 singles.
"Kelly played a really good match at No. 1 singles to give us our only point," coach Joan Nichols said. "She was moving the ball really well. The No. 2 doubles team of (Shivani) Patel and (Kendall) Lambring started out strong but just couldn't keep the lead."
