Rain forces postponement of Thursday's sports events

The rain that fell over the area for most of Thursday forced postponement and cancellation of all the sports events that Jackson County high schools had scheduled.
The boys track meet at Bedford North Lawrence High School has been re-scheduled for today with the field events and 3,200 relay scheduled to start at 5:45 p.m., the trials at 6:15 and the finals at 7 p.m.
At 6:15 Thursday night, the pole vault and long jump runways, and lane one along the main straightaway were under water.
The girls sectional tennis tournament at Seymour was also postponed until today. The schedule has Trinity Lutheran playing Scottsburg, and Brownstown Central facing Austin in matches that will begin at 4:30 p.m.
The championship match is tentatively scheduled for 10 a.m. Saturday.
Brownstown Central's Mid Southern Conference baseball game at North Harrison is re-scheduled for 10:30 a.m. Saturday.
Braves coach John Lawson said after that game, the team will go into Clarksville and eat, then the Braves will play a junior varsity baseball game at Providence at 4:30 p.m., and the varsity will play the Pioneers at 6:30 p.m.
Seymour events rained out were a varsity baseball game with Brown County, freshman baseball game with Jeffersonville, and varsity and junior varsity baseball games against Madison.
Seymour is scheduled to play host to a junior varsity softball tournament Saturday at Freeman Field.
Seymour will play Columbus East, and Madison will play Bedford at 10 a.m., and the consolation and championship games will be at 1 p.m.
Brownstown's JV baseball game against Jennings County Thursday was canceled.
Also rained out Thursday was Crothersville's baseball game with Madison Shawe.
The Crothersville golf team played Columbus Christian and Edinburgh at Greenbelt Golf Course in what Tigers coach Danny Lee said "were horrible conditions."
He said the players all played five holes, with the winner figured on strokes over par, and Columbus won the meet.
Dillon Maxie was low for Crothersville.
The Tigers will play at 2 p.m. Saturday in the Henryville Invitational.
