Brownstown volleyball team tops Mitchell; Crothersville loses

Tigers handed first loss

Brownstown Central's volleyball team won 25-9, 25-23, 25-6 at Mitchell, while Crothersville lost 19-25, 25-9, 26-24, 25-20 at Orleans Tuesday night.


At Mitchell, Whitney Tormoehlen had nine attack kills and served three aces to help the Braves improve to 3-0.
Briana Baughman served five aces, and Jordyn Pendleton had eight kills.


Brownstown will play in a tournament Saturday at Seymour


At Orleans, Crothersville got off to a good start but couldn't keep up the pace and was handed its first loss after three wins.


"We came out strong and took the first game, but our serve receive killed us in the second," coach Zabrina Nicholson said. "We fought the next two games, but kept making little errors which held us back."
The Tigers had 30 attack kills with Amber Lucas getting 11 and Coleigh King nine.


The Tigers will travel to Scottsburg Thursday night. The Warriors are coached by Scott Sage, who was the assistant coach at Crothersville last year.
