Seymour's Alli Re4ed and Floyd Central's Briged Morrisey battle for possession the balll during Thursdya's match.

Floyd Central scored two goals in the first half and defeated Seymour 3-1 in a Hoosier Hills girls soccer match Thursday night at C.B. Hess Field.

Heather Jones scored Seymour's goal in the second half, and Kaitlin Grindlay had the assist to make the score 2-1 before the Highlanders added an insurance goal.

"It was kind of a depressing performance," Lady Owls coach Kendra Hubbard said.  Seymour had 14 shots and Floyd 15. Hubbard said she was surprised the shot total was that close. "I wouldn't have thought the shots were that close. We didn't play well at all. We weren't aggressive and we let them step ahead of us."
Seymour finished 10-5-1 overall and 4-3 in the HHC.

Seymour will begin preparation today for its match Thursday in the Columbus North Sectional. The Owls will play the winner of Columbus North-Jennings County. North and Jennings will play Monday night.
The Owls lost to North 4-2, and lost to Jennings 5-2.

Hubbard said, "Against Jennings we didn't play a very good game, and we'd like to redo that. We played North the second game of the season and we didn't have Bridgett (Jones), and we were still trying to get things together. We just need a good game against whoever we end up with."
